we all know that different nations have different cultures. food culture as an important part of the culture, the differences between chinese and british food culture involves many parts, such as eating habits, mealtimes, different dishware and dining rituals. first of all, lets know about chinese food cultures. in china, people like to eat together. we can regard it as collectivistic orientation. there are several times which chinese must get together and have a meal together. for examples, when people get married, the new couples will invite their friends and relatives, and prepare banquet for them. also when people died or baby born, even people move into their new house, chinese will get together and eat together. it sound like chinese show their special emotion by eat together. but pay a attention to these things: youd better dont start to eat when the elder havent start to eat, and you d better eat dishes nearby, dont try to get the dishes which are far away from you. when you eat at someones home, dont eat all of food in you dish when you full, but just a little food left ,or hostess would think you didnt eat enough. then, lets know something about british food culture.
culture. 1.different features in chinese and british food culture because of the long history and wildly area of china. chinese food contain lots of parts, even people in different season use different way to cook. there are too many kinds of food to list. when someone invite their friends in china. the more expensive or precious the food is, the more face he can earn. in this sense, formal banquets in china have one thing in common :there should be more than enough food on the table. otherwise the host will lose face. compared with extravagant banquets in china, the scale of banquets in britain is much smaller. for example: in a party , the host usually does not prepare food and drinks and serves some simple food only like cheese , sandwiches and fruits. for most british this is a good opportunity for communication and strengthen relationships.

in china, the seat facing south in a banquet is usually regarded as the most important, while the seat facing north is comparatively less important. but things are different in britain. in the past , the most distinguished guest was seated on the left side of the host. with the d
evelopment of civilization, this old style of assassination has been extinct for a long time. nowadays, the seat at the right side of the host is more honorable than one on the left side in the widely recognized rule. 3.different main food in chinese and british food culture rice and cooked wheaten food are two main staple foods in china. also other kinds of cereals like maize, kaoliang, grain, tuber crop have become staple food.
meat, milk and bread are the staple food in britain. a common meal usually consists of soup, bread and butter. potato is another staple food in britain, it is as important as rice in china. there are so many differences between chinese food culture and britishs . there are also other aspects which i have not mentioned. we cant tell which is batter ,but we should accept different cultures and respect them. if someday we go to other countries ,we do as romans do.

in a view of history that clearly demonstrates people have troubled by a persistent inability to understand and get along with groups and societies removed by space, ideology, appearance, and behavior from their own. southern people are trended to be introverted, they usually quiet, elegant and forth. vice verse, northern people are extroverted, their behavior full of energy, aggressive. northern people make friends easily. conventional says that is the differences of personality and behavior. besides, their lifestyle, appearance, ideology are various. southern people prefer a delicate life, like they will be decorate the house from some details while northern more likely to hold the large way. about the ideology, southern people fill of ideas, more creative and hardworking in my humble opinion.
although, so much differences among southern and northern, we also have substantial similarities. the main same is that we are belong to one country, we live and die together. we have the obligation to consociate together for prosperous our motherland.
